Tabitha Chepkwony

Tabitha Chepkwony is a highly experienced professional in international development, humanitarian work, and peacebuilding. She has a strong background in results-based management, monitoring and evaluation, and community leadership, engaging communities both in Kenya and internationally. She has been instrumental in fostering networks, forums, and initiatives across rural, regional, and metropolitan areas. With extensive expertise in training and facilitation, Tabitha has worked closely with faith-based NGOs, government agencies, and community organizations, strengthening partnerships and supporting initiatives that promote social cohesion, community resilience, and culturally competent dialogue. She has played a pivotal role in facilitating the successful settlement and integration of humanitarian entrants and skilled migrants, particularly in regional Australia. Her efforts have helped newcomers secure meaningful employment and establish a strong foundation in their new communities, recognizing the critical role of community support in their long-term success. Previously, as a Community Integration and Orientation Coordinator, Tabitha ensured that humanitarian entrants had access to essential resources, information, and services, helping them build confidence and independence in Australia. Beyond her professional achievements, Tabitha is deeply involved in community leadership and advocacy. She has held leadership positions as Chair of the Kenyan in Sydney Welfare Association (KISWA) and Deputy Chair of the Australian National Committee of Refugee Women (ANCOW). Her contributions have been recognized with several prestigious awards, including: • Kenyan in Australia Hero of the Year (2023) • Community Engagement Award at the Celebration of African Australia (2016) She was also an inaugural member of the Australian Government’s African Australian Ministerial Consultative Committee and was nominated for the Women of the West Award in 2016. Tabitha’s dedication to international development, humanitarian response, peacebuilding, faith-based engagement, and cross-sector collaboration continues to make a significant impact on multicultural communities across in Africa, Australia and beyond.
